DeWalt grinder, Some new goggles/face shield for grit blasting, ear defenders, a new reel of wire and some new gauntlets.
All so I can freeze in the garage and finally do the sill on the MG that I've been putting off for 2 years :-)
Loads of pics, certainly! I've already made my first mistake and I haven't even taken delivery!
I believed based on spec it was a 1934 10/4 saloon as it doesn't have a sunroof.. so I ordered the timber building/custom shed to put it in. That was erected today. After double checking the...
Thanks, nice to be back. The MG's fine and dandy sitting in my sisters garage about 100 miles from my home next to my '72 VW and my 3/4 size 1960s racing car.
I'm hoping to bring the MG back up to the Midlands sometime soon as I have an urge to replace the nearside sill and sort out some of the...
It's the wrong shade of blue for starters. Based on the colour of the interior it should be 'Royal Blue' which if you know Ford Midnight Blue, you're getting pretty close. There are signs in the paint that I am in for a few nasties here and there. Structurally its solid as a rock, but i suspect...
I haven't been around here for a while. I used to lurk a lot whilst I was working on my '66 MG.
Well I thought I'd stop by again as I have a new project. Hopefully (fingers crossed) I will be picking it up next week. Its a 1934 Austin 10 (Chrome radiator model)
The photo is as I first saw it...
Very true, but very handy on a Sunday afternoon. Like most things at Halfords, you can get it cheaper elsewhere, but we all keep coming back because its convenient.
Halfords will mix nitrocellulose to any standard colour for £25 a litre. I can get 1966 MG Grampian grey from my local store, so I guess they can supply any colour.
Bright Spark... I notice you state your location as "The meetings of the two waters, berkshire" Where's that then? I lived in a marina for 11 years where the Thames meets the Kennet. (still have a boat there)
Thanks Simon, I really appreciate your support! :D
I took about 35 photo's on a pair of 'use once and throw away' waterproof cameras. I still have a few shots left on the 2nd camera left to take, so I intend to just snap them away this weekend and then get them developed at Boots.
I'll scan...
OK my guess is you've all long since forgotten about this? But I did it (see http://www.bhf.org.uk/sponsor/iainmoone for details)
It was knackering, cold, the wind and rain were miserable but we raised over my £1000 target so I'm well chuffed!
Now I can get back to doing some bloody welding...
I'm at the Thames & Kennet Marina in Reading. I fitted out a Peter Nicholls Wide beam about 7 years ago. More on that here: http://www.thedawnmist.co.uk
I plan to sell it this year. I want to have a crack at building one of these next:

When I lived in the south east there was always some idiot throwing stuff in the skip at the Marina where my boat is moored that was worth saving.
Since I moved to the Midlands there's nowt (unless you want rubble and mouldy sofas?)
Update:
I just returned from a mind numbing business trip to Palo Alto to find the plans for the boat. I'll be ordering the wood and epoxy tomorrow.
I have to say I am very impressed with the quality of the plans and instructions.
I buy the odd cheap tool. I burnt out my drill a while back, so replaced it with some 20 quid piece 'o' junk (with a 2 year warranty) just to do 1 job. I realised that I was over drilling the max depth rating for the drill by nearly double so didn't expect it to last but figured it would last...
