Hi all,
I have a few old Record Vices in my sight. But am a bit lost. The vices are an 84 and a 111.
Which would be the better choice for general mechanic=Engineering monkey-work?
I do have a Record 35 which I am thinking of retiring, just to let you know that I might be a bit spoilt!!
ok, thanks all, you can stop putting the boot in, now.
I will plug it until I find time and inclination. I will expect a sieve when I open it up, at least I won't be disappointed!
Ah nuts! You are mentioning the fears that I dont want to face!
I have given it a good poke around, it is going into clean metal at the edges of the hole. It was a paint blister from water inclusion, possibly. If Tig or mig of the hole was not do-able without the screen off, I was thinking of...
Hi all,
There was a paint blister on my old Volvo....poked it and a 4mm hole appeared!
It is about 15mm from the rubber windscreen just as an extra kick in the teeth.
I would like to repair it in situ, without taking the seal or screen out. Would a Tig welder be able to do it?
Hi all,
Can you have a look at this fuel rail and tell me what kind of welding method is used to build this?
Material - stainless (can you press nipples from them?)
Its 8mm tube with 1 or 1.5mm thick walls.
Hi all,
I have a set of sliding workshop doors from an old industrial building, securing my yard.
Someone has broken one of the latch handles. I think it is cast iron. Any idea how to repair this please?
Pics incl.
Thanks Bobo, will have a look.
Slimjim, I think that is the reason. I don't want to mess around. I use a bit of wire and then want to just leave it. If the interval is so long that something rusts, I just remove the wire and use it for something else around the place.
It is a practically...
Hi all,
I am trying to get my Welding mojo back. I bought a lovely Portamig from our Forum's Steve (WELDEQUIP), about 7-10 years ago, but it got put away with a change in circs.
I think it would be wise to invest in a .7kg adapter for this machine. Any ideas where I can get one that will work...
I think its a specific person or geoup who have been tasked with targetting hobby welders with this deal. The rest seem completely unaware, consistent with the size of this huge company.
I emailed a Danielle Martin who seems to be working from the Manchester office. This was middle of last week...
I just found this thread!!
I have had a contract with BOC for a Y bottle Argoshield Light for the past 5 or 6 years. Used it once 4 years ago. I have alsways been billed about £120 annually to have this bottle sat in the garage. I have just paid BOC another £12x.00 a few weeks ago
Do I...
Old post, I know, but in the same vein;
Given the same situation of pinhole rust on a compound shape or rare panel, would it not be possible to use some steel or aluminium epoxy putty? Hopefully that is not as porous as filler and probably more robust that Fibreglass?

NORTHWEST UK - MYERSCOUGH COLLEGE
There are at least 8 courses on Welding and another 4 which are welding-associated (like metal working intros). P/T and FT. There might be a single day course too, not sure.
There is a strong Motorsport and Engineering background to this college.
NORTHWEST UK - PRESTON COLLEGE
Hi all,
Just checked, this college has a horde of pure welding and Welding-within car panel repair courses. Part time and Full time.

Lol, thanks for that entertaining lesson, guys.
I thought they were like "DOLLIES" to whack metal sheets over to get perfect 90 degree angles and whatnot :P
Off to look for an EDGE SETTER or JOGGLER, now..
Warmest Regards
