Hi,
You can get solid sheets of insulation at various thicknesses, kingspan, celotex, etc.. this is much easier to install that fibreglass. (just cut to shape with a wood saw, install in walls ceiling etc, and generally it stays where you put it unlike floppy fibreglass on rolls)
You can...
Thanks for the replies guys, the thing i took from the replys is that the 5" flue pipe will expand, crack and the temp of the stove pipe could be hotter than i thought.
I can't do a register plate, honest there is no room for it it would be more trouble than it's worth, i agree there will be...
Thanks for the reply, i did think of that but the plate would be so small and tricky to fit it would only be about 1 foot square, and the flue pipe lines up exactly with the chimney so it is perfect to shove it inside, just thinking about the best way of sealing it!?
Hi all,
I'm just installing a woodburner and need to join a round 5" steel pipe to a 7" square clay liner, i can insert the 5" flue inside the 7" clay liner by 300mm, then i was thinking of stuffing around the 5" pipe with fibre glass then sealing each end with some fire cement....
So my...

Hi,
I recently got a few safes from a hotel that had closed, they had been thrown about a bit, i had to cut the bottom off one to see how the mech worked to gain access. (then due to a weakness i could open all the others without using force)
One safe was out of square so i used a 40mm bit...
How hard can it be to get that pin out!?
it seems that steveo3002 does not want to really do it for some reason, give it to me for 30 mins i'll get it out somehow lol.
Good luck steveo3002!!
Dave.
If the electrician he uses has a length of mineral in his van and some terminations then it may be an option, if he uses Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable and burys it at a depth where it isn't likely to be disturbed then isnt that good enough for the regs...
Mineral is an alternative to SWA it's very thin and you can draw a huge amount of current through it as it has no PVC insulation that would otherwise melt, it is a pain to terminate and you have to keep the cable cores dry but once terminated with the propper ends this isn't a problem, it may...
Do you have a fan?, i have an as-new in-line ducting fan if you're interested, will check out the spec of the fan if you like? Won't want that much for it.
Hi,
It will be ok with a bit of PVA to hold all that cardboard in place!
Will be interesting to see the patchwork when you've finished.
Looks like a lot of work, have fun!
Dave.
I'm not an expert but check the polarity of your torch and clamp.
for gas it should be torch + and earth clamp -
for gasless it should be the other way round torch - and earth clamp +
I have had mine set wrong before and it did exactly as you've described.
And you say you are using...
No problems with my Rage saw
Hi,
I have a Rage saw and have cut 40mm box 2mm wall, 20mm x 6mm flat mild steel with no problems.
It does chip away at the metal but i've never had a nasty burr on the metal left by the blade, just needs a quick rub with the file and i've never seen the metal...
