ugh. :worms right... ? ok, well, this is the reason why i was getting an external glazer in to do that bit.. i really don't want call backs... I think I can see another plan coming along.. :/
I get what you are saying I think... the glazer said he would putty the glass panels in, do you not think that would be sufficient? I was also worried about the water ingress, unit will be galv'd and painted, but last thing I want is water leaking through. I really would like to see a sketch...
Thanks Guys,
Yes, this job is more fabrication than smithing, and yes, the scrolls were formed hot. Got the brackets somewhat welded together today, still some more bits to add to them, and still working out the fine details of the top :)
I am making a glazed porch awning for some customers to match the gate I made for them last year, so back to cutting and welding and grinding for this one, been a while since I've done anything architectural and I'm remembering why I love doing sculpture (where holes don't have to line up etc!)...
I had an otterbox cover for my phone, total rubbish!! had a real nightmare trying to return it and get my money back, they ended up sending me 3 different replacement cases which I promptly put on ebay and then I bought a lifeproof one (if it's waterproof it must be dustproof), have had that for...
oh mine came with some extra relays not needed them yet.... i never got it undressed like you have! on mine the inductance is wired right into the med so unless i go in and unwire it i can't change it... mine was apparently bought sometime in the 1990s i can't remember now, i have the original...
that looks fabulous, great work, look forward to seeing progression. I'm seriously creeped out by the massive spider on your wall though!!!
I'm feeling lost by not having time to devote to my own ideas as well.. I've got tennis elbow so my work is limited to what I can do right now. so at the...
giant snail sounds awesome, look forward to seeing that!! I've been forging wee ones out of 8mm rounds.. made these for my daughter's teachers and teaching assistants, they loved them.
I do drawings for prospective clients, but often will do a small sample piece, having a tangible object...
I quoted the lady more than the first frog, but she hasn't got back to me so who knows.. sometimes people never get back.
I am super efficient forging tapers and scroll work like this, i've done it a zillion times! It's the thinking out how it's going to be done that takes the time. Its made...
looking good, the feet have a really great texture.
I know what you mean about the hesitation on starting. I know I get too worked up about the details or how it's going to work and it's so much easier to work that out when actually doing sometimes. i remember at art school they were very keen...
Thanks Pondman!! That is it exactly!!! Froggy didn't take too long, I did him in 3 sessions of about 2 hours each, maybe a bit longer, and that is the making time, as usually if I'm doing something it's mulling over in my mind when I'm not working... you know, while doing something else or...
That's so lovely, that teacher will definitely cherish that one!! I made little snails for all my daughter's teachers and teaching assistants this year, on her request. The last few years I've given them steel flowers but my daughter was helping me in the forge a few weeks ago and we made a few...
