I've tried electrolytic rust removal but have since tried citric acid and I think I prefer it. The main reason is it's less faffing about with the battery charger and it's not 'line of sight' which electrolytic seems to be. You still need to give it a good rinse and a chemist would be able to...
Well, to be honest I did wonder about the advisability of this modification. I am far from an expert, but the current lower arm looks cast to me and the intention to cut & reweld it, grinding off welding marks sounds dubious in the extreme. NZ has a engineering roadworthiness regime* and none of...
Use them a lot, mainly because there's not much range in NZ and the supplier's good. I don't abuse them and think I've only had one disintegrate with no ill effects. That reminds me: I bought a new Makita 115mm angle grinder and I HAVEN'T USED IT YET! I must be working too hard... ;)
If the vertical welds are giving you gip, can you turn the trailer so they're horizontal? I flipped my trailer loads of times while building it - each time I welded new bits on, it became heavier to flip but I managed it without putting my back out.
Looks good so far.
Well, I'm not sure if it's just the manufacturers or generally good advice, but 'they' recommend you change your helmet every five years or so. I don't follow that rule but they eventually get tatty & manky. My Shoei is comfy and looks cool (matt black with tribal 'tattoos') but was too spendy...
Impressive - I love these thread because it's encouraging to see what blokes can achieve with a bit of skill in their driveways.
I'm looking for a new project such as a Spitfire or MGB - the spit appeals because it's smaller, separate chassis and I've always liked them. The MGB has the appeal...
The only interpretation I can think of is a bit like 'turning into the skid' during oversteer or as the young folk say 'drifting' (and no, it's not a sport. Not.)
FWIW, I tend to forget some of the useless tools I've bought. But I have had some surprises: my chinese air compressor goes a treat and it powers a DA quite happily. I bought some 'universal' socket wrenches which have a six sided tapered socket which are great. They fit a range of metric and...
The link is to a continuous ink system, whereby dummy cartridges are fed by capilliary tubes to much bigger (150ml or something) reservoirs which sit behind the printer which is similar to the big A2 and larger printers. The printer complains the cartridges aren't genuine but you just hit 'okay'...
I have one of these systems (NZ link but you should be able to find something in Albion...) and a Printer Potty (daft name but basically a much larger waste ink reservoir). Both are excellent ways to substantially reduced printing costs - from NZ$140 for 6 ink cartridges to so cheap as to be...
I have one similar, but the frame is smaller so it's more portable (no wheels). It's as powerful as I'll ever need (eats tarmac) and runs really well. Can be a little hard to start without a spray of engine starty stuff but that's because it's a four stroke. My old 2 stroke one died due to me...
I like these campaigns (a little public safety never hurt), although two things occur to me: the rider should always be assuming a turning car hasn't seen him, and secondly he should be able to stop in the road visible to him. I'm constantly thinking of how visible I am to other road users...
Forgot nitro, such a pain for no gain. The brushless electric motors are faster and the cars are much, much simpler. I've got a 2WD Traxxas Slash (1/10 scale 'truggy') which I just put a 2.4GHz radio into yesterday (No crystals to worry about, smaller aerial) and it's so much fun, especially at...
I would also be very wary (run a mile) from someone doing any structural welding with such an attitude. It has to be clean, so he's not up to the task. I also suspect from his wording that he's going to arc weld it. Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!
