Had a quick look throught thr Machine Mart and screwfix catalogues but couldn't find anything.
Can anybody reccomend something to use as a cutting paste when using a tap and die set?
Thanks
Andy
Yeah It all seemed a bit too good to be true, a free and plentifull supply of metal!!!
What I'm gonna do is take 2 pieces home tonight, cut and weld them. Place, at an angle, under the vehicle and see what happens!
I do think the sections are up to it but it's the welding of the joins, given...
But not the wordly goods type.....I need to build a Rotisserie ( Chassis Roller ) and we have just done an office move and on the old desks are some very nice Square Tube legs. The thing is I'm not sure what metal they are. If it is an alloy type thing, is this weldable? Or if I give it a go are...
Did I see on here, some time ago, diagrams on how to make your own car body roller? For tilting the whole car over, I did a search but couldn't find anything.
Thanks
Andy
I've had to put the torch down and back away from the car a few times Lippy before I kick 7 shades out of it!!!
I'm happy with the welding I've done, I was a bit more concerned if the MOT picked up things I'd missed. The decission has been made tho, It's gonna stay in primer and go in for the...
As shenion says keep to the side, Also, I found, Jack up the car as high as poss. To give you as much movement as poss, especially with the mask. It also give you plent of room when some red hot piece of splatter or similar drops on you and you freak out under the car cos it's so friggin hot...
Ok, the Triumph Spitfire I've been restoring is getting to the point where I'm doing a bit of filler etc and going to be spraying the primer on soon. The thing is, Do I risk getitng it fully sprayed ( in the final colour ) and put it back together prior to the MOT, or do I spray it in primer...
Hi Scott,
I can only give my prssonel opinion and I have no idea of costs, but if it is just those few bits to be done I would probably go the routs of getting somebody else in to do it. Mainly cos ( I think ) as these are structural bits of the car you don't want it to fail the MOT on them...
Malcolm, you're sounding like my wife saying 1/2"makes all the difference !!!
Justme, yep, I was thinking that, but the small heads don't last long at all, but I think that will be the way to go. I nipped into my Fav place, Machine Mart to buy a reel of wire and also got a selection of Dremel...
Hi Manny,
I've got a 135te, cracking little welder....however....... I bought a Argon mix bottle from Machine mart and couldn't get gas coming thru! The local MM shop was useless but I phoned up the help/support number and they did have an issue some time ago that the valve pin and the Bottle...
Appologies, Firstly, justme, sorry bud, just reading the reply I put with your quote. It makes no sense to me now, but I was a bit P****d off yesterday as earlier on in the afternoon some Tw*t in a white car/van had decided to run it upagainst the rear drivers side of our car. Did they stop and...
Ha ha , give us a break. :) I'm restoring a 69 Triumph Spitfire and some of the repairs I've had to do, show on the outer body ( No matter how neat they are ) and I'm aiming on using as little filler as poss!
Andy
