Ooh that’s nice!! What size batteries do you have, I have a few 4Ah ones - I’d be interested to see how much it cuts on what size battery. I’d be tempted by one but not if I had to splash out for bigger batteries to do a decent area.
I ordered a new cartridge for our aqualisa as it was hard to turn on, eventually becoming impossible.
I phoned their technical help department, as I didn’t want to get the wrong part number and find out after I’ve dismantled it that it won’t go back together - unfortunately they sent me a...
Micrometer or calliper?
A micrometer comes in a range of sizes eg 0-25mm, 25-50mm etc and so on so if you want measure more than 25 mm you’d need a second, more than 50 another one etc etc - plus they tend to be metric or imperial and you don’t get both scales (obviously for a digital you can)...
Easier, but still a handful, with 2 people! We refitted some big heater cabinets on an oil platform a few years back and had stacks of crimps to do with one of these, it was OK when you could do the cables out in the open but as you say trying to wrestle them into place in a tight place is...
I've used these and cembre ones in the past, both very similar. I love the cembre but they are mega ££ - this was a bit of an extravagance but still good value, as it has the full range of dies with it.
I've got a 4000a thyristor to swap out in a few weeks, I'll probably be using the companies...
Picked up a very lightly used RS Pro hydraulic crimper. I toyed with the idea of getting one of the generic Chinese ones (which would have been cheaper) but having used one of these in work and seeing how solid and well built they are I decided to pony up the extra for this, which was less than...
A couple of folks died in brymbo steelworks back in early 80’s through legionella, and quite a few more wer pretty ill with it - they were having a shower at the end of their shift, and it was apparently present in a water tank, the shower released it as aerosol.
I wouldn’t be so sure - there’s loads of very very good fakes on eBay. You may well have just had a bad one of course…
I’d also say the fact if it was damaged and had a knock (despite no visible damage I presume?) highlights that they are maybe a bit fragile, another reason to stick with your...
Once again though, for the vast majority of people there’s a massive disconnect between the extra cost and any “benefit”. It’s not like they are a comparable cost but much better - they are hugely more expensive than a standard mic and only of much benefit if you are doing lots of parts.
When...
Yeah, they do what they do I guess, and that’s the trade off between speed and accuracy. For a lot of applications they are ok, and when not then you break out the mic!
And if you want a bit of both you have to break out the wallet!
I didn’t say it was, but it’s a vernier with a fine adjustment which was what he was after. As you say, the accuracy, or lack of it, is down to the way the scale works.
I’m still struggling to see where, other than a production environment you would need such accuracy AND speed over a range of measurements. While it obviously must happen, as people have suggested above, the chances of it actually being an issue must be pretty small for the average Joe in the...
Exactly this ^^, unless your in a production environment and mic’ing hundreds of parts a day. That’s the whole point of those quick mic’s. I can’t say I use one enough for it to even be an issue.
