This is really about aluminium but I suppose the question could cover all metals.
Ok so we've established that I am a Fred in his shed type bodger and on any weekend you can hear we swearing at the heath robinson affairs that a badly hung over mind dreamt up while in a stupor. Now I'd like to...
Once again thanks for the responses, especially jaykay.
I think what I may do is... one door has a barely visable, except in certain light when it's hugely obvious?, crease along a panel line that wont knock out (neighbour clipped her while parking causing the panel line to buckle). I'll see...
It is a 2001 Vauxhall Astra in Petrol (Blue) some yob keyed some extremely rude words on the bonet and down the sides to bare metal.
I was hoping to use a touch up gun to put high fill primer and sand it down before feathering in the celly and laquer.
Thank you for the replies. I am wondering if I should tackle this job at all. Sounds like it could quickly and easily become one of those DIY jobs that will need a professional to sort out at 3 times the original price.:o
I've been scratching my head over this one. A little while back I was restoring an old vehicle and used celly. On the small parts which I painted first the colour came out much more lustrous and deep. However when it came to spraying main body parts I found that the overspray left was rather...
mmm. Some interesting posts. Glad you got what you wanted Malcolm.
As for me, because of space issues I built a workbench on castors with fixed shelves underneath. I hate toolchests. They start out nice and tidy and after one job they're a mess and you can never find the right spanner or...
No offence meant, as I am the king of stupidity. I only ever learn the hardway which usually involves some form of pain:laughing::ashamed:
I learnt all there was to know about Walbro and Tilletson carbs by spending 3 days in plastic surgery having my hand put back together after it got caught...
 I just love fellow Freds
Hands up all who haven't shown themselves up before. I think my best one was as a strapping young lad with my first car. The GF didn't have a licence and didn't know how to drive which wasn't a problem except the old banger had a duff battery and...
I'm not sure if this is valid advice but I have a stainless steel wire brush that attaches to a drill. An agressive pass down the area to be welded to remove the oxide layer and cut contaminated area makes welding a doddle by comparison to any other method I have used. More than anything else...
I believe you Snowcat. HF has the potential to cause coms problems. But unless the computer equipment uses wireless for coms then no. Show me a computer that does not sit inside tin. In supporting argument I design and install computer systems and datacentres ranging across the spectrum from HMS...
?
I can see why you would ask the question. However I would be very surprised indeed if the HF had any impact on computer equipment more than a yard or two away. Most computer equipment is already built into it's own faraday cage, all external cabling is shielded that is susceptable to EMI...
I am a inmate of a maximumbikes.com forum and one of our members Ruskie was demonstrating how to remove scratches from the windshields of bikes by polishing them out. I was dubious and asked if he could demonstrate the process. So he deliberately defaced his bike to prove the point. I am...
I'd recommend a thicker box section than 1.5mm. You'll want something that has a bit more rigidity unless you plan on adding a whole lot of braces. Last thing you want to happen when your bike is up there is for it to wobble;)
