Thats ok but doesn't the centre of rotation for the material to run round need to be at the centre of pinch ie between the rolls or does that not affect how it rolls?
By the way, have your got your rear roll parallel to the ground or offset to suit the cone you are rolling. I've seen it done...
I think you will struggle unless the wall thickness is about 7mm on the 3" and 5mm on the 2 1/4" as its only the wall thickness that is preventing deformation on that type of bender.
It may help if you fill the tube with fine foundry sand but in my experience it doesnt make much difference...
Sorry Sam - you said you had a US partner or a tie with US machines. Got mixed up.
I do make race car wishbones, wings, oil tanks etc for Historic F1 cars when I get the chance so I appreciate how much and how long things take to make. We try to supply good kit that enables a small business...
Hi there, The website is back online now after a server panel change.
All our own brand tools have a 1 year breakage warranty and all Pro Tools are lifetime against breakage on die sets. We keep spares for our own machines and always hold models back in case of large parts failure. European...
Hi there, My phone number is on the post above and on our website and on our ebay listings. I will be happy to talk if you have a problem with any of the affordable machines we sell.
We are a family business that produce our own machines and tools and also import machines from all over the...
Stakesy's Metalwork Machinery are the UK and Euopean Importers for Pro Tools range of benders. We don't stock the dies for the 200K model at the moment but will have them in the next 6 weeks for clients who wish to build this bender themselves.
The website is www.stakesys.co.uk and we can...
thanks for posting that it will help me greatly. I have a couple of questions. What is the PI and Theta numbers? Are they just putting the weld in a diferent place?
Also is it possible to rotate the end cut angles so that they are on different planes to each other - for example 90 degrees...
Quick tip for you - if its off the mig real its obviously bending. Its easier to use if you prepare a few longer straight lengths - say14 inch, by clamping one end in the vice and twisting them with lockwire pliers or a mole grip.
Makes them straight as an arrow.
im looking to weld a motorcycle frame soon from cds mild steel tube. Are you saying i have no choice but to use copper coated wire?
If so would the correct wire be er70-6 straight from my mig welder?
any info appreciated.
Im starting to think this is American anti law suit stuff !! I read another chapter last night and now hes talking about skin cancer of the neck from the UV!!! How do welders survive past the age of 30? :)
Yes from a visual perspective as long as the metal was prepared the same, descaled with wire wool or scotchbrite (never a wire wheel as the wire gets imbedded in the metal - again you cant see it) and then cleaned with acetone or brake cleaner including the rods, the results were excellent. I...
He also stated that the copper made the weld weaker with its impurities which could ring true for vry high spec stuff like race cars and aircraft.
We used to use copper coated for everthing including Jordan F1 wishbones and Ford WRC uprights - oops.
Ive always used copper coated Mig wire for Tigging and have just read in a Richard Finch Performance Welding Handbook that this shouild never be done as it gives off hazardous fumes.
Is this true? What would be the difference between MIgging & Tigging with it if the fumes are the same...
