Most of the things I read on the specific problem you are having, point to the gooseneck in the torch like was previously said.
The larger diameter wire will still poke through (for the time being) but will likely give you trouble in the future, UNLESS you blow some air through the torch neck...

Thanks Shenion....I found that there is indeed a tensioning (parts bag) available for my welder, and ordered one today.
Now I'll be set tp start learning by doing.

Well, I have aquired some gloves, helmet, nozzle spray, contact tips, argon/CO2, and .30 wire.
I loaded the wire spool (2lb.) onto this spindle thing, and fed the wire through to the torch tip....so far so good.
Then I let go of the spool, and.....well there isn't any tensioning thingy on the...
I was just given a SOLAR tote-mig 2115, and don't have a manual. I don't know what all wire sizes I can use (tip sizes I can install) but do know that it has a piece of .024
wire inside the cable (but the spool is gone).
There is a guage, so I am assuming I can use standard wire type with gas...
