Would I have known that the little bugger will run out of steam after few rolls....
I knew that Russian video before purchase but considered it irrelevant, something which quite naturally comes with serious use and my usage is far from serious!
But few rolls and gone I didn't expect, shame on...
I may only offer ones which guided me as they were proverbially put on my lap. Well... machine I mean ;)

This reminds me that I have to ask about the yellow tool as I only have two corded ones and...
Right, and you will never know before you try it in my experience. Even respectable manufacturers may have fake tech specs as it was for CEA in my case.
Buying used without extensive tryout is a lottery. Buying new listen to the guys here or it will be the same lottery without demo. If one says...
I like Oerlikon Spezial because the arc does not wander and slag in not heavy. Years back taking a course I thought that I'm a total loser not having any luck with vertical up root in 4mm sheet. Bought a pack of 2mm Spezial and had results almost overnight. The 2.5mm Hilco Basic Super rods...
First find out which knob adjusts wire feeding speed. Then turn corresponding knob to minimal setting, pull the trigger for 10s and measure wire length. Repeat for maximum and middle settings. In that way you will have very rough idea of feeding properties. Next find out the voltage knob...
Given my experience you won't :) By the way I noticed another error of mine, 3ph transformers are beneficial mostly for MIG. Not relevant anyway as you have only 1ph.
Frank is right, I should have noticed that it is for farm workshop use. If portability is not a concern and suitable line power (wall socket) is available then go for transformer. For transformers always prefer 3ph to 1ph.
Lorch MicorStick, EWM Pico, Fronius Transpocket would be money well spent. My MicorTIG 200 is the best stick welder I've ever tried and MicorStick should be similar.
Hi, I have heard somewhere that in manual mode the voltage can be adjusted absurdly high.
Perhaps @stuvy can help you, he offered help when I had Tst 2200 question recently.
Hi
I am sure you have noticed that the marketing materials for newer Picomig 220/225 models like to point out the PFC-circuit as some new and flashy technology. I cannot but note that they are very late to the party if the older Picomig 180/185 are missing it? Am I right that Picomig 180/185...
Photos of iron bird droppings on the aforementioned sheet...
All outlines except for Paton Promig bottom one represent tacks/spots. Paton bottom outline circles continuous "weld" ending with a hole of course. Looking at backside the Paton setup happened to be really cold and that's how I tacked...
They did not have 0.6 rollers for the BPI 15-4 feeder and swapped to BPI 15-2 2R feeder so I could test power source suitability for 0.6 wire.
I did not try the menu system but of course real knobs would be much more to my liking. Adjusting wire feed speed worked while welding. I was wearing...
As promised I got my hands on Tst 2200, Kemppi MinarcMIG EVO 200 and Paton Promig 250.
As good as Tst 2200 is, it is still too hot with 0.8 wire for my usage. Yes can do, but sheet must be clean and moon in right phase to place long row of series tacks down consistently. The metal I am working...
@hotponyshoes, I guess this is the incident you hinted at? If so it looks like webmaster copy/paste error or similar error in the database if pages are automatically generated. I cannot find rootArc/forceArc terms in current "Operating instructions" 099-005545-EW501 dated 28.01.2022.
Am I understanding right that EWM advertised a feature on their product webpage and/or documentation and in reality it was simply missing?
I am asking because I loathe deceiving manufacturers after my recent incident with CEA and will drop EWM if that's true.
To be honest after watching all of the forementioned videos, the Dutch guy was using wrong (inductivity) knob to set wire speed. He confessed that in 4-th video. Mea culpa.
I am tempted as well but will better save the money for a nice Lorch watercooled TIG torch.
Yes, I understand and personally am also in search for a machine which first and foremost will be consistent in tacking. All this car panel work is series tacking and if that is not repeatably consistent the welder is useless. Of course it also has to be fully manually adjustable. After calling...
