just carried out my first actual home repair. The clothes pole had snapped in the middle, so I slid an HSS drill bit of the correct diameter half way down the centre of the bottom half, welded it, then slid the top half over the drill and welded that. Seems to be fairly solid. Not pretty but...
Spent a couple of hours playing tonight and made this. Needs cleaned up and will have to try harder on the mark2 version. Having a bit of trouble welding the stainless. Do I need a dissimilar metal rod?
Not been in the garage for a few days but had a play tonight. Using new rods, GYS 1.6mm. 6013, set at 45A, found them very easy to use but burn fast. Added a few more bits to the project.
I've been using the Lidl rods that I bought when I got the 80amp inverter, but bought a few Fincord M rods and tried them tonight, in comparison to the Lidl ones. First pic is the Fincord 4 lines on the left, Lidl 4 lines on right. Both rods 2.5mm E6013, at 80 amps. Next pic is my very poor...
Tried some straight lines tonight. The first pic starts from right, the one on the left was the last run. The mess on the bottom is the rear of a t weld? The second pic is the rear of the straight lines, last one on the left again with the fillet being at the top. I know itbut I'm loving it...
Cleaned they wee man up using the dremel. Thought it was muck coming off him that was pinging of my hand. Oops. Still, I think he looks a bit better now. Can actually see his face.
