If you recall Paul I only asked in my original post if longer back caps were available. The answer is a simple no which I posted number 22. I therefore suggest to you this thread has run its course and should get :padlock:please.
It's not the first of April yet is it? An insulator thick enough to be effective would mean there is no way you could screw in ANY back cap into the torch head to hold the collet/tungsten. Bore a hole in the end of the back cap and let the tugsten protrude? mmmm this is the one I like best. If I...
Most likely to much heat, when welding stainless you get the pool started then you motor on. Use a gas lenses for best results, I use a large lens and cup. But hey its not going on instagram why waste all that gas just coz its a liitle grey it will still be strong. To much heat also causes...
Short arc 2 mm ish move then dab move then dab concentrate on one thing at a time I have seen some guys using a metronome like for music to keep the timing if you are after a perfect bead. Try turning your mask up to 13 you need to get right in close to see the arc. Hold the torch lightly and...
Once you see your weld pool forming at the the start get moving do not hesitate and then try taking your finger off the trigger before you reach the end of the run so the amperage and therefore heat are falling before the edge of the plate is reached.
If you could post some pics that may help but I can try and help. Make sure you add a couple of dabs filler rod before you set off travelling. If you are not using a pedal ensure you are not cutting the heat as it were at the end. Slope down gradually and add extra dabs of filler back up over...
The ones I have are CK and have never had any issues with them except now they are 175 mm long and are giving me this issue with my WP 17 but hey I can still use my WP 20 torch. I have no experience of these but thanks anyway mmm... I will definately need to experiment. Any body using the cheap...
Thanks to all that have replied. Yes I have a lathe and could possibly make an extension adaptor which screws into the back of the torch head into which the back cap would screw. Getting it gas tight may be a problematic, also bearing in mind it also needs to push down on the collet to hold the...
I got a long back cap in the kit supplied with my WP 20 that handles the 175 mm tunstens using a gas lens. It's just the constant noise the cooler makes that drives me nuts after a while! At least the welder is fan on demand and sits silent when you are marking out and fitting up.:)
Thanks for sharing the link Popcorn but 15 mm is way to much stick out for me personally I like to use less than half of that, no more than about 1/4 of an inch in old money. That's just me of course each to there own my friend. I guess I will just have to keep cutting them using my current setup.
Thanks for that. I have at least 4 standard long back caps which are fine with standard front end hardware and 175mm tungstens. I however prefer the stubby gas lens kit on there and thats where my problem lies. I can always chop them down to fit but as much as I like the button back cap it is...
Good Aftenoon all
Question; May I please ask, is it possible to get a long back cap for use in a WP 17 style torch fitted with stubby gas lens kit so you can use these new 175mm Tungstens full length?
That's incredable at least the guy could have been savvy enought to let you have the replacement. Whip the replacement out of it's box and put your faulty one back in!! Sometimes you wonder about this check box world we now live in has common sense gone for good?

That was what...
Aaron tells me he is getting the 7 pin male plugs in stock to simplifiy the process. Cost was minimal for me I cheated and picked it up whilst on holiday.
Hi all
I just thought I would give a shout out to a great service provided to me by Aaron Byler at SSC Controls in Mentor Ohio USA. I had been in discussion with Aaron for a little time about obtaining a pedal from them. Initially Aaron was understandably cautious as he knew little about R Tech...
