In my previous thread I am now coming up with the following problem and have looked in my large standard collection of nuts and oddments but cannot find anything of a small enough pitch, trouble is, the taper starts at 8mm and tapers to 10mm at the top, doesnt matter were i got to pref about 1/2...
i have a lambretta which i am customizing to a race spec. Before I have a stainless exhaust and a mate tig welded a receiving boss on which was also stainless.
Now i have bought a mild steel exhaust as problems with 2 stroke and SS are common.
All i need is a nut with the right thread, but...
what i am after is preventing the tear at the stress piont and strenghtening it so it does not split again. Should i use a different metal or like you say just solder the coppper on?

I have a lambretta panel with keeps tearing at a pressure point. I was told to weld some copper onto the reverse side of the panel. Now i have some copper tubing thats about .8mm and .5mm which i thought i could cut in half and flatten. My panel is sheet metal, not sure of the type buts its 70's...
I have just welded my fork brackets on my lambretta with my new (above). I wasnt impressed with my weld pools compared to what i obtained during a few hours at a college. Ok i know its going to be ok but its taken me a fair while and it kept looking bubbly and rusty as opposed what its supposed...

i got one of them too, like you as a first time round i think it seems ok. 100x better than that rubbish that clarke supplied, i thought they were having a laugh or it was some sort of toy.
