I have a Hydrovane 502 too. It is definately 8cfm FAD at 10bar (I didn't believe it so I measured it). It runs all the tools fine and a blast pot but with the pot you do have to stop occasionally to let it recharge. The real benefits of the hydrovane are the noise and the fact it is 100%...
I am just at the end of a 5 year restoration of a BGT (took so long due to lack of effort to be honest). If you need any pictures about how things come apart and go back together let me know as I have probably replaced about 70% of the panels including the roof and windscreen surround (not...
Talking about Quiz things. Deal or no Deal. Oh how I want to hurt the makers of that show. The way the audience clap and cheer when some brain dead tool chooses a number and just happens to get it right. There is no intellegence or knowledge required at all. They might as well just count...
Waiters/waitresses saying "enjoy" when they put the food down. I don't know why this annoys me so much but it makes me want to stab them with the butter knife!

You could try Underdown Plant Hire & Blast Cleaning. They have alot of experience in working on cars. They are between Canterbury and Herne Bay which is not to far away. I am just about to have my MGBGT done and was quoted £300-350 for blasting and priming.

Hi
Sorry to hijack the thread. Could you supply a windscreen surround for an MGBGT part number HZA5553 and how much would it be?
Many Thanks
Jon
Thanks for the offer. I have taken out the circuit boards and have fornd that the ICs have been replaces at some point. Whoever did it didnt know how to solder and some of the pins have been missed. I have resoldered these and will test the machine again.
If this still doesnt work I will...
Hi Bobbes.
Thanks for the advice. I measured the resistor last night and it was 268 ohms which is well within its tolerances. Do you have any other ideas?
If not I think I might give up on this machine as I cannot afford to have it professionally repaired.
Thanks
Jon
Hi
I have got the same welder. There are two versions. If you have the older one then the minimum current is 55 amps which will make it very difficult to weld car bodywork. The later ones (130XT V.2) have a minimum current of 35 amps so it will still be quite difficult on very thin metal...
Hi Bobbes
When the machine is set on MMA it can only just melt a 2.5mm rod at full power (150amps). There must be something wrong as I think it should be ok with upto a 4mm rods at this power. I was thinking that only one half of the rectifyer might be working ie. only one of the thyristors...
Sorry for the late reply. Took ages to find the pictures of the valance.
Below is a picture of where to cut. I know this is a GT but the rear valance are the same as on the B. If you are only replacing the lower valance this is much cheaper and easier. Obviously you will also have to...
There are two options for repair panels for the mgb. One is just the lower half and the other is the lower half plus the centre section above (the section between the two verticle seams behind where the numberplate goes).
It is a bit hard to explain. You have the section below the bootlid...
I have a Hydrovane 502 compressor. It is 2.2kW and has a free air delivery of 10CMF. This will run most of my tools fine but does run out of air quickly if using an air drill. The good thing about it though is that I can talk on the phone next to it and still be able to hear perfectly well...
Hi Guys
I picked an Esab tigma 150 up the other day for next to nothing but can't find any information on it. I don't suppose anyone on here knows if they are any good or not? It came without any leads so does anyone know where I could get a set, preferable second hand or very cheaply...
Thats the same welder I have. I have just found out that the minimum welding current is 55amps unless the machine is a new one! This explains why I am finding it so hard to weld my rusty old MGBGT back together. You may find it really hard not to blow holes on car bodywork even on the lowers...
