Tried this out today on the girlfriend's fancy glass scales. 80kg per wheel and 38 on the nose. So just under 200kg (and I managed to avoid breaking the scales!)
We burn nothing but coal at home. In the past when the oil heating was on the blink the entire house was heated by one open fire in the living room which had a back boiler. This fire is fed from below with a double air vent from outside the house. On a windy night, with the vents open, the fire...
I got around to installing the floor today, just before it started to snow! By this point the light was fading and I was freezing so I didn't take many pics:
I'll take a few more in better weather. Overall I'm pretty happy. Total spend was about £300. The size was always going to be limited...
Haven't had much time to work at this recently, but I've made a good bit of progress. Need to drill holes to bolt on the timber and then it's painting time!
I'm never without my Victorinox alox farmer. It's amazing just how many times it gets used over the course of a day. I prefer the alox versions as the main blade is thicker and more sturdy than the normal version. It holds an edge well and I can get it shaving sharp without much effort (I do...
Another vote for Bahco from me, I've a couple of their sets. Regardless of what brand you get, I'd advise to get 6 point sockets over 12 points. Nothing worse than rounding off an old rusty bolt with a 12 point socket.
Hi all,
I'm going painting a small trailer shortly and I've just bought some rustoleum combicolor paint to do so. I've just realised that I still have some Jotamastic 87 epoxy primer left over from a different project, probably enough to do a base coat.
I've been looking through the data...
I replaced the boot floor of a 4x4 and brush painted it with Jotamastic 87 winter mixture. I mixed it by weight using digital scales. Brush painted it on aswell and didn't pay too much attention to how thick it was. It is as hard as rock now, like someone else mentioned, I spilled some on a...
Yeah this cladding stuff does shrink a lot when it dries out, but on the other hand it is dirt cheap so I wouldn't begrudge replacing it every couple of years or so. I was thinking about a sheet of ply but I thought boards would let water drain away better as it will be stored outside. I'll def...
Thanks, I think the photo is a bit misleading as the mudguards are only sitting on top of the wheels. they are still about an inch lower than the bed at the minute and I would need to leave about 3" for wheel travel, so I'd need to raise it by another 100mm on top of the 60mm it's raised at the...
Got a bit more done this evening, just been cutting out bits of angle for the rest of the frame, I'll get the chance to do a bit more welding tomorrow. I've got a load of this yorkshire cladding that is used for the sides of open sheds that I might use to line it with. I was testing it out to...
Haha, seems like this may be slightly overbuilt then! Oh well, I might take up a new career in stealing lead so it might come in handy!
Just out of interest though, If I was to build a flatbed above the wheel, what would have been the best way to get the height necessary above the...
