I was welding with my Bessey clamp on my welding table, Solter Cott Inverter arc welder. I was welding some angle iron. I think I had the earth clamped onto the Bessey clamp rather than the table. I'm not sure what happened, the rod might have stuck, but I heard the arc coming from somewhere...
I have tried the esab ok 46.00 and they were pretty good. I got better welds today from the Lincoln Omnia 46 by letting the puddle build up more and using a slower travel speed. Having an extention from the house cooker socket, to the greenhouse, to the garden shed, and then another extension...
I bought Lincoln 609060 Omnia 46 electrodes, 2.5mm 6013, thinking they would be awesome but have been really struggling with them. I tried them first on my dc inverter arc welder but then realized they were AC rods. So I tried them on my buzz box and it made a slight improvement, but still...
My metabo thumb switch was snagging. I had only used it for about one hour. When I took it off I found gouge marks where it was digging into the casing. I sand-papered the sharp edges and that helped a lot.
I recently purchased a Kress 750 watt (made in china) and a Metabo 900 watt (made in germany) both 125mm discs. The Kress spins really fast, much faster than the metabo. It's useless for grinding as the speed it too high and my hand feels numb for hours after. I use the Kress for cutting...
I need to replace the suspension arm on my car, so I thought I would make a pickle fork to help pry it off. The toughest part was cutting the angles with a hacksaw as the angle grinder would hardly cut it. I tapered the parts to be welded like you would do if welding pipe and gradually built...
I just came across this cool welding metalwork project. I might have a go at it myself, but don't have all the materials. I think it's supposed to be a kind of bird feader table.
Just received my new makita hp2070 today. I opened the case to find a pool of oil under the drill. I wonder if the grease inside is bleeding and how much longer will it bleed for. I'm not sure if I should return it or just wait until no more oil comes out. Maybe some sloppy workman put too...
Yes, I'm taking a chance on this one. But it looked like a steal for £110. It looks pretty well made, but as you say, it could be from China, who knows? The warranty is 2 years return to base by the looks of it or maybe ama$on will take it back (can hear people shouting, "you fool for buying...
I didn't buy one. I got a welder branded Ratio. As far as I know, it's a rebranded Solter Cott, made in Spain. It shipped from Spain. I got a good discount on it. It had good reviews on one of the Spanish welding forums.
It depends on what thickness of metal you want to weld. That welder you mentioned sounds like an arc welder for thicker metal. If you want to weld car panels or thin metal, you want a mig welder.
