Phone him up & ask him to pop round. Otherwise contact Kettering and make some waves...
I bought 4 new snap-on master series boxes, over a decade ago (cost me 7k then), they've been ok.
I jetted my outgo to 6mm, and; as long as the abrasive is graded properly & dry I don't have to kick it anymore...
Think: carburetor…
I also opened up the outlet to 3/4" bspt by welding in a 16mm thick disc. I left a 1/8" plus root gap and got a great result with the MIG. I didn't think it...
I'll recommend dieselhead123 (great guy). My 95 mk5 rear arches took me a week, the front arches took a month because the inners had gone, front crossmember needed work (while I'm there), o/s headlight panel was also shot, steps, inner seals, complete cab floor pan...
With the rear arches, I...
I don't heat my workshop at all. Instead, I shut the workshop down for the winter and do other things like surfing and electronics. It provides me with a good balance that keeps me passionate about all the things I like to do.
Sadly, the most elaborate items I was allowed to make in my final year, were a simple bottle opener for metalwork, & a wooden tea-tray for woodwork. Absolutely disgusted! ...they called that "a school"?
Fortunately, one of my heros (my Dad) started me stick-welding at the age of 8, fabrication...
Have to be hard on myself. Cuts deep into the heart of my happy-time.
If it's on the bench; either: I need to complete the thing right now, or 'it's in the way' & heading for the bin, right now!
...there's no second chances, no shot at redemption; it's either something tangible immediately, or...
My main metalwork bench (great for fabrication & engine rebuilds)
Movable metalwork bench (brilliant access for grinding and welding)
Wood bench (sheetmetal, general carpentry, etc)
Electronics bench
There's a sewing bench & sjoberg, but they are both in storage at the mo, and finally...
Thanks guys!
Gordon: I'm currently doing a rear diff casing cover (from 2mm 430 Ferritic Stainless steel). Both the anvil and hammer set are made from work hardened 304 Austenitic specifically for this job.
Wallace: It is indeed my own design & build. The gear lever is from a much lamented...
Sounds about right. At my first session on a welding college course (as an untrained novice) I took full advantage of the "hands off" approach and knocked out most of the MMA level 1 in the first hour. From then on, I became the tutor for the rest of the group (God help them; I pushed them...
QCad has been ported out for some time to "LibreCad" (uses the newer Qt4 libs ~ > ver 2.0). Finally... fully open sourced & available for Win, Mac & *nixers alike.
+1
Recently scored a load of gear from a garage clearout, in there were these unopened "BOC Chromoid 101" welding rods. Just curious about them really, any one have any info on them, or a link...
I used 50mm waste pipe (was listed as greenhouse rainwater downpipe, I believe) for dispensing tig rods. Rods stay dry & the tubes are very resilient. Pipe comes in different colours for easy selection of metal fillers.
...hadn't thought about storing arc rods though, nice one bigegg! <thumbs>
Accolades indeed, esteemed gentlemen. Thank you!
If 'Hol' (current French President) hadn't got so uppity with me; the entire installation would have been sited at the main entrance to the Louvre and this now forlorn 'objet d'art' could have taken 'pride of place' in the forums'...
