So when did ratchet chucks come onto the market ? None of my 4 cordless drills have ratchet chucks ...the Hitachi I bought 3 years ago and the Fatmax I bought last year just have ordinary chucks ..
None of my cordless drills have this feature ... my favourite little hitachi has developed a chuck that loosens at times ... very boring when you get yourself up a ladder in position with the drill and a few screws to put in.. and the driver bit drops out and disappears into the undergrowth...

Hi dragla53 and welcome to the forum ..It's worth persevering with the clarke if you can , the option of using gasless is useful if you are gonna work out side .. As a111r says get a bit of thicker steel and just get the feel of it ... then go on to the thinner stuff with a bit of copper pipe...
Hello welcome to the forum .. I have the same welder.. they can be a bit twichy to get set up right ,with limited adjustments but once you get it right will do an OK job .... When you say "bang and it burns back to the tip "do you you mean it actually goes Bang ... NB in my experience burn...
