Trying to recast a jacket round a block sounds like an expensive way to add some twist to it!
I enjoy working on engines and anything mechanical but when the costs start to add up I look for a cheaper option.
Sounds more like the in service inspection of lifting gear?
All lifting appliances must be inspected by a qualified inspector, I would expect an inspector to be LEEA qualified.
This is all in the regs, they are free to download on the HSE website, I would suggest downloading them and having a...
No it won't work, if you are modifying a magneto then you can just use the points to brake the low voltage supply to the coil but you will need a 12v battery to supply it.
I have a dead Lucas magneto on my 1950's rotavator, the cost of rebuilding the magneto is more than its worth so I'm going...
I'd have a look for a second hand one on Facebook/Gumtree, I put one in my workshop when I built it.
Just a suggestion, if you haven't used a big grinder on brick before make sure you have a full face screen and dust mask, it's unbelievable messy to wet cut and more dusty than a dusty thing dry!
They are noisy but quite effective, the ones I have worked on only ran when the engine was running so when the crane shut down the receiver tank was locked in.
You would still have the issue of all that horrible abrasive dust, I won't even grind in my workshop, I hate the thought of that muck on any of the slides! When I finally get round to building a t&c grinder it's going to be heavily guarded and operate a flood coolant system! I may even plumb it...
You will probably find the motor is geared down to set the regeneration and flow times for the dryer, it's a long time since I worked on a setup like that, the last time I saw one was on a Storthert and Pitt crane, that had what you're describing with a small air motor activating the pilot...
The cylinder would be lubricated by the sump oil the same as always in almost any compressor and any 4 stroke engine, lead was added to prevent the exhaust valves welding themselves to the valve seats it isn't a cylinder lubricant.
I don't see that it's an issue running an engine / compressor...
I think I had the real thing 3 weeks ago, massively high temperature and felt like I'd been run over by bus! Zero energy to do anything too, just wanted to sleep all day, had a bit of a cough too. It really knocked my wife out for about 2 weeks, she is on medication that suppresses her immune...
My pond pump runs 24/7 apart from when it chokes up with weed! I'm building a bio filter for my pond with an upper pool full of water plants to hopefully reduce the pond weed and duck weed in the main pond. Assisted by a determined dredging and netting!
It's amazing what you find in the ground when you start digging, I assumed that my back garden was undeveloped, the house is old and I have the original deeds and plan from when it was built on an empty field. Cutting out footing I found, old foundations, a filled in hole full of rubbish and old...
