Thanks. he did say they were 1.5m lengths.
I do most jobs myself, but there's only so much I can take on with a busy family life. And some jobs I can't be bothered with.
I did think he would grind out as you said so I am a little bit peeved. He did say something about not wanting to grind if possible due to disturbing tiles or dust/debris getting under them but I wasn't really clear on it.
I think it will be fine. We've re-carpeted in 3 houses and always used 10mm underlay and the gripper rods were similar to what you have, they are probably a standard size. The underlay will compress a bit. There is a slight taper around the edges, if you really don't want that then shim up. I...
Well it's done and although it looks a lot better now, maybe my interpretation was ambitious... Nothing was ground out, perhaps because apart from bits that had broken out, the mortar was actually in very good condition. A couple of places on the top of the ridge tiles there was a slight gap on...
Thanks for the feedback. Yes old pointing/mortar will be removed from the sides, he said unless it's loose or a gap he would leave the top alone, which I suppose makes sense.
He is having a quiet week so offered a good price (he said). Seems like it is then. I think he will only be a day, maybe...
I tried to repair a similar thing on my kids shoes. Because it's at the bend point it just fails after a fairly short time. I've tried Soudal Fix-All Crystal, Evo-Stik Sticks Like... and epoxy (all different shoes - once you have tried one adhesive it's not possible to then try another when it...
Bloke that does my tree trimming has been round today with his son who has a roofing business. I've been meaning to get my garage roof looked at this year as mortar is coming out of the ridge tiles and there is moss. He seems OK, quote was 450 for scraping the moss off, removing all pointing on...
I've used Bedec Aqua Advanced (gloss) and I let the decorator try it last month to compare to the Johnstones Aqua he normally uses. He said it was very similar to use.
The Bedec being fully water based it does not yellow. The Johnstones Aqua is waterborne/hybrid however I found it didn't yellow...
As Julian says, the formula has changed a lot over the years, and so what you can thin it with has changed also.
Again as Julian says try a cap full and see. If it's something even half important or you only just have enough paint, buy the proper thinners.
Maybe you have special soap or the conifer sap is particularly bad? As I tried various soap-type products and was left with red sore skin from the scrubbing and still only about half removed.
I can confirm that white spirit worked well to remove it from my plastic saw handle and loppers. I used...
One Strike is OK but it is a lightweight filler. I usually use Toupret interior filler from Toolstation which you mix up, it's very similar to Polyfilla but just seems a bit better. You will need to build it up in two goes. For a large hole I think it's easier to use than lightweight filler as...
Well I tried Fairy washing up liquid, Yellow Mellow hand cleaner and had a shower and scrubbed with shower gel but it's still there. So I'd say soap and water doesn't work.
I didn't think you are able to buy turps since about 20 years ago.
Will try some of the other recommendations.
Just cleared some waste from a couple of cut down large conifers. Got some of the sticky resin on my arm and the handle of my saw and loppers has it on too. Any tips on getting it off? The saw handle is plastic and the loppers have foam grips on. Maybe clean the loppers and replace the grips...
Well it's the update I didn't want to give... Despite charging at weekends, this morning the wife's car wouldn't start. Fortunately it was at home so not the biggest disaster but still not ideal.
So don't make the same mistake I did - if your old battery goes flat don't mess about, just get a...
Yes, that was the other thing. Didn't want to spend best part of a ton on the coating only to find that the cheap (still £20 or more though) UV lamp didn't cure it properly. It's easy to get caught out - it will dry but not be cured as there's different wavelengths of UV and you need the right...
I looked into UV cured clearcoat, as I was afraid of isocyanates. As you say it's expensive and you need a UV lamp. Sunlight won't do it. One thing that was pointed out to me by the rep was to be careful with dark or shaded areas, probably not an issue on a panel but things like wheel arch lips...
