I bought a laser measure this morning. does what it says on the tin, seems very accurate compared to a tape measure draped across the room, does lots of clever stuff and all for less than twenty quid.
Place I used to work at had a standards department where they calibrated all and sundry stuff for quality standards. I asked the guy who did mic's to run my 7 quid lidl vernier against standards and how they compared to the very expensive works units. Result was, well within tolerance . The only...
The VW group all use the same parts bin, even Porsche and Lamborghini use the same parts as Skoda VW Audi and Seat, I'd bet even Bentley and Bugatti use sensors and other bits from the book of common parts.
I know this isn't funny but it is. My local Coop employ a number of people with special needs {good on them for that}, one lad is in a wheel chair and he is a shelf stacker, I guess the poor kid can't be allowed on a till because of his disabilities and limitations. {OK I expect to get flamed...
That's what I do, I have my trolley at the side of the till with carrier bags open and ready. I then pack straight into the bags, in order and at my own pace. The till chimp is then forced to work at my pace or chuck stuff on the floor.
I've got the same crimper, works fine for not much money. Can't see the point spending more, I guess if your a panel builder it might be worth spending more to get a tool with a longer life but who knows.
I've got a really old B&D angle grinder and drill, both over 35 years old, still work although the drills bearings are on their way out and the grinder coughs and stutters. having said that they have both seen plenty of use over the years so don't owe me anything. My son on the other hand bought...
That was me, straight from school. British Steel Lab Rat, stuck it for 9 years then went off into engineering and services until nearly 40 years later they waved a pension statement and redundancy offer at me and I was out the door as quick as I could. Went off and did other things for a few...
We used to do all sorts' fuel oils, lub' oils cutting oils coolants, it seemed never ending. the only one really worth doing were the heavy fuel oils which varied quite a lot, none were ever rejected, if they didn't meet spec' the price was discounted. We did sulphur content, flash point...
That takes me back over 40 years when I was a lad, Sir Boverton Redwoods viscometer, oil sample after oil sample testing the viscosity of oil supplied by various manufacturers, never ever found one that differed from spec' complete waste of time.
Some time ago I bought some LED tubes that were designed for fitting to old florescent fittings and the instruction for those was to ditch the starter and ballast just running 240v direct to the tubes and it didn't matter which way round the tubes went into the fittings.
