Now, I think I might be in luck. A company called Air Industrial Equipment based in Harlow do a Air Industrial HW25S-inverter compressor. Spec is a 5.5hp motor delivery 17cfm FAD @ 7 bar and runs at 71db. £2500 inc vat though :-(
I have been told by Sealey that the 3HP single phase screw compressor has a FAD of 10.6 CFM @ 9 bar. Anyone able to give me an idea how I would calculate the FAD @ 7 bar?
So could I in theory some how wire 2 of these together?

The 3HP screw compressor I listed does states 300 l/min which is what the gun requires. Like has already been mentioned, I am unsure at what pressure the 300 l/min figure equates too. I have already investigated dual pumps and a standard compressor is a no go. Noise output is crucial and a...
Evening all. I'm still trying to source that elusive and quiet < 65db single phase compressor that will give me a 12 FAD @ 7 BAR. I spotted a Sealey 3HP screw compressor with a 100 litre tank. Spec states
Noise Level: 59dB(A)
Maximum Free Air Delivery cfm(ltr/min): 10.6(300)...
Not dismissive, but when MM told me the db rating of their belt driven compressors I just thought that is rather noisy. Maybe, I do need to see one in action if they are not as loud as you say.
Ok. Is this the solution?
How about buying the 5.5hp unit from MM

and then replacing the 3 phase motor with a 4kw single phase one, like this...
Thanks for your posts here. A standard piston compressor running at +90db is a non starter. Both from a neighbor perspective and for my own sanity. It's far too loud.
A number of people have posted that their hydrovane compressors on single phase will handle 12cfm at 7 bar. Please send me a...
Having researched 240v options I have concluded that a single phase unit will not provide the required FAD. Anyone know whether I can use an inverter to run a 5.5hp 3 phase compressor from 240v?
The unit I am looking at...
With the changes you have made are you able to have a conversation next to the compressor or is it still too loud for that? Just keen to understand how much of a db reduction you managed to achieve?
Morning all,
I have been looking into this one and am struggling to come up with a solution. Piston compressors will give me the FAD, but they are too noisy and I need something < 70db. I have seen a 240v screw compressor, but the FAD is around 12 CFM.
The other option is whether I could...
As you know I posted a thread regarding a quiet compressor which will power a gun for spraying mortar. Now the company in the US who make the gun also sell compressors. The web page is below

Down near the bottom of the page they have a machine...
