I dont have the money for a new plasma, i was given this. so i can either get this going or not have one basically. im prepared to pay someone to get it going. but thats about it.
i got a multi meter. i don't have a insulation tester. i opened up the handle. which i attached a picture of. i also looked at the pcb in the unit i could not see any damage thats visible. i'm afraid i'm not great with electrics. i understand the basics. voltage and amperage etc.
the torch worked without physically touching the metal tip against the job. i have a brace on the tip which stops it getting too close. Ill look at those links. see if i can see somthing interesting in there but i may need some hand holding to fix this. thanks!
Hi jim thanks for replying. I replaced the entire torch and lead. heres the connections after i replaced it.
1 thing i have noticed is that. there is also a power cable that goes to the brass connection on the air line. where the last one didn't have a separate cable (unless it was internal...

hi, i understand what your saying. I use tigs every day for 5 years and i have had my fair ammount of HF zaps and this is nothing like a HF zap! its a propper electric that makes you feel sick after. also the multimeter reads it at 90 volts. my hand is nowhere near the electrode, its on the...

I spent all day on cutting this thread right. i did it in 1 shot. nice and slow as i didnt have a center steady.

ah i see what you mean. is there not a slow but sure fire way or doing it by reverseing the machine with the nuts enguaged at all times? will that work?
ah i see, i meant going halfs buying one!
