I have been using slightly bright welding goggles, not the best, but I cant see my drawn lines using the Parweld mask...
Heres a tip:
Dont use a blue marker/engineers blue, to mark your work for cutting. The UV rays make it near impossible to see the line! I find black shows up best. I would...
Is Hammerite good for spraying in cars? (obviously not the main outer coat) but inside/underneath for rust protection..
I was thinking of painting all the floor pans in something tough after all the welding is done.
Apart from all the nasty paint, primer, and grease underneath that you have to grind/sand off somehow
Seriously, sheet steel is not expensive nowadays... LastI bought was a large sheet for around £35-40, and its given a LOT of metal parts, clean and non rusted surface, means less...
Im about to buy a big sheet of metal for repairing the jeep. Il be using 1.2mm steel as I find it keeps its form well, cuts well with the plasma cutter, welds easily, and will last a while once painted :)
Why Gas?
I really enjoyed Gas welding, but the bottles are expensive, and a fairly high hazard to shift about and work with. You really need propper training and kit to avoid serious problems. It was only then that I became familiar with TIG welding, not only will it weld alloys, and...
Haze its already on £48 and counting. Problem with something like this is the price will shoot up minutes before auction end. But I will keep my eye on it, cheers :)
Sloow down :)
If you read carefully, I wasnt going to buy the electric kit unless it was a decent deal. I already had my doubts on it.

But I just want to ask your...

Thanks for the responses. I think I will use the grinder for this (im quite hand with the little Hitachi!) I find it easy to control. where as a flap disc and drill wont fit under there :(
I will look into this 'tetra' stuff from M&M. Just wanted to use the hammerite stuff since already...
Cheers!
My friend lent me a Wax oil gun for the Hammerite stuff.. is that ok, or dhould I get something stronger? most of it is coated in some kind of rubber sealant, and the hammerite is proving hard to find!
Do you think this will get me passed MOT? the weld will be tidyed a bit more still (looks worse in the photo, honest!) and then painted in primer.
The plate is 1.2mm thick, really took some bashing on an anvil to form it all. Again, photos dont do justice as I spend a whole 5 hours on that work...
