You would normally only do them one at a time as it might not be necessary to re shim both. I don’t think it would have done any harm, just takes more effort to compress two sets of springs, maybe the portion of the tool you have that acts on the bucket is just too wide?
They arrived today and I think I’m happy with the quality for the price -£178 from Amazon for the pair. Only complaint would be the thumb wheel is a bit sloppy.
That’s a good point @Pete. the Moore & Wright ones have a resolution of 1/128 and the Starrett 1/64. Maybe the ‘lesser’ resolution is an advantage in this case.

I’ve got a pair of Moore & Wright digital verniers that can show metric, thou and fractions which I find handy.
They have now stopped working so I’m in the market for another set. But before I go and buy the same as I have, has anyone got suggestions for other brands?
