Thanks guys, I'd call it a hex head.
Yes it is very annoying that you have to be 'deemed competent' to use shop tools, but then again when its idiots like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEASEz4QI04 who are even allowed to be born... what can we say?
People like this worry me...
Bloody hell!!!
Forgot all about this site! I do apologise!!!!!
Didn't have any decent tool bits so ended up having to make my own... It was a bit of a crap job but managed to get there in the end so no comments about the finish please! lol! :waving:
Lol nope! Only a bench grinder and Pillar drill that no one is signed off to use so their locked off o.O.
Ha! Had a play on a lathe yesterday, will post a photo of what the bolt looks like tomorrow.
Right.... Sorry for the crappy MS Paint edit but here it goes.
You see where the M20 thread is? Basically to remove that new looking part you have to remove the M16 bolts and fit M20 bolts into the stainless looking securing point and then gun the M20 bolts up so as the bolt turns, it pulls...
Okay then mate. I shall let you know when I plan on coming down and also see if you have the available time too.
Pretty busy with work next week so may be the week after on my stand down?
Hello mate.
I will be travelling by train as I dont have a car :/ what's the station? Yeah I'm at temple mills depot fella! I've seen pics of what it used to be! Gotta love a bit of fly shunting!
Would RTD spray do the trick? If awemawson doesn't mind, I'd like to see if he could do the bolts for me?
Ever had one of them days where work is just so slow and you get the most crappy jobs to do?
Yaaaaay I've got 70 brake pads to change, I wouldn't mind but the pads we use are the size...
Brilliant responses chap! Awemawson, where abouts are you? Just on my way in to work now so will take a photo of the reason why I need it. Good thinking about putting nuts on the thread!
Would I be right in saying that I would need to use the highest speed that the lathe has (1000rpm ish) also...
On a lathe!
Used a lathe before but not for turning metal so bear with me while I try to explain this...
Basically, Imagine you are looking at an M20 bolt... From the head of the bolt measuring down 30mm I need the bolt to stay at M20. But from 30mm down to the end of the bolt I need to...
Thanks for the replies chaps.
It doesn't take long indeed but if I forget or get the wrong tool, it's a 500 meter walk back to the tool box. I work on LONG trains lol.
Hello all!
Haven't been on here as I've had a change of career and its been a massive learning curve. I am having a little trouble with it though as I shall explain.
I'm used to working with Imperial but now I'm trying to learn Metric but the problem I'm having is when someone says to me M10...

Not paying TV license means you get cut off and taken to court?
Im sorry if im mistaken but where on earth did you hear this? Legally they cant do that unless you have had sufficient warnings.
You have 2 warnings, an inspection, a fixed penalty notice and failure to pay or reply to these...
