Got a set of rolls off Rod (tigman) the other day, top bloke, let me come over and play about with them to make sure they'd do the job. Can get the cone down to a 1- 1.5" gap and then bring them in with the jubilee clamps, tack and weld.
Cheers guys.
That's cool, can see that being the kind of project I get up to my neck in and then run out of talent. Been looking around a bit more, been told these should do the job,

Hi guys, I am in need of some conical tube, which needs to be 20ga 304SS, 460mm long, 114mm at the fat end and 70mm at the narrow end.
This is something I will need fairly regularly, probably up to ten a month.
I have tried to source a machine that will do this, but when I ask the various...
Cheers guys, looks like I need to raise my budget a bit:(

Thanks for the comments, have done a few more, and they are looking a lot better (but cameras broken)
Turned the post flow to 3secs as sugested, and no pin hole at the end. Who'd have thought all those knobs on the front of the machine had a purpose:whistle:
Also been doing alot of fusion...
Would be interested to see the jigs you build for these, I'm building an exhaust system for my bike and there may be scope to build more for people. So may help to build a jig, but not sure the best way to do it.
Cheers

Interestingly (or not) the groves on the edge of coins are there because as you say when coins were made out of real silver people would shave a small sliver off the edge of the coins and when they had enough melt it down and sell it. Just a random thing I read somewhere.
Yeah would be...
That's the one, just thought there was alot of potential in coins.
As for it being illegal, I'm not too sure, read somewhere that it was a myth started years ago to stop kids putting coins on the railway. And how many times have you been to museums, theme parks, seaside resorts that have...
tig'd a couple of 10p's and 5p's together, a butt weld and a lap weld. These were actually first atempts, the butt is just a tack on each side, could be broken by hand, but is surprisingly strong. And the lap could probably have gone down in the amps, both were done at around 20-30amps.
I...
I know you get a lot of this, but your input is very much apreciated. This is the first tig welding i've done since the introductory course I did a couple of months ago.
This is 1.6mm stainless welded at around 50-60amps.
This is the top of the weld, the one on the left being the most recent...

Hi, sorry to dig up an old thread, found this through google as I'm trying to work out my budget for the workshop I'm going to be renting.
Has anyone done any checks on their meter's and what is it costing these days.
Cheers

Need to get some argon for my tig welder so I can get started with it. I know it's not the cheapest in the long run but at the moment I'm restricted to the little disposable argon bottles, can get 5 390g bottles for 50quid. It says they contain 60litres of gas each, any rough ideas how lond...
