I applied a final coat of Jotun Hardtop XP to the bottom of the car using the correct ratio and a roller at around 7pm last night, but it must've been too cold or humid or something as I came back to it this morning and the final coat is matt, not shiny.
I'm going to leave it a while longer to...
After cleaning the chassis of my project car, I want a hardwearing 2k paint that can be rollered and is either gloss or semi gloss. Any recommendations?
The only non-ISO 2k I've seen that is soft is the unibinder stuff which converts 2k into air-drying paint and so isn't really comparable. I use Nisocoat 2 by HMG which is 2k non-ISO and dries as hard as 2k from my experience. There is also Aznnoble Cromax or something to that effect that is a...
I've rollered quite a lot and it's hard to get a consistent finish, I think lots of coats are needed to get a consistent finish much like rough plastic.
When people write about sanding back runs, the paint I've been using means that when I sand out minor runs it leaves a darker colour. Is this not normal? I always thought paint colour should be uniform throughout to a certain extent so a build up in a drip should be the same as surrounding paint...
No way would I roller a whole car, especially one with as many complex curves as that. Save yourself masses of time and make a far better job of it by applying through a gun - 2k epoxy isn't deadly like other 2ks and can be applied with a disposable painting mask from Gerson/3M etc. Perfectly...
I've been racking my brain for a paint which can be fired from a plastic bottle spritzer (like for watering plants) that can be used to spray stencils onto the playground temporarily or at least semi-permanently but which won't be harmful to my children (ones I teach - not my own progeny).
I...
Lechlar epoxy is not a high build primer, it is the next best thing for people who don't have air fed and whilst it won't build exactly like a high build primer it does have a good build and will, in a few successive coats, be comparable to a high build and do the same job.
I have read that...
There are non-isocyanate 2 pack paints like HMG's DF89 - just finished respraying a car in it and waiting a week for it to cure before colour sanding and buffing. Using both a stick and a thumb nail I attacked a few different panels to gauge hardness and it seems as hard as any of the other...
Adam, I had a quick look and I can only find people who have used Cromadex on girders etc. I know HMG usually use theirs for industrial machinery and the like but I have read posts on DF89 being used on some classic Beetles. Have you used Cromadex 800?
It's £130'ish for 5l kit including the thinners - have to check my receipt for the exact price. Bought RAL 7043 which is a direct gloss dark grey though they do clear and it is cheaper as well. Can fit parts same day would imagine but wouldn't want to unless you had to - touch dry in 2h and can...
Review:
Sprays well, cuts down well when polishing, with a good blasting from a heater it hardened quickly, has a good hardness to it when cured - all around impressed.
Pre-colour sand.
A new day for non-air fed enthusiasts? I have a test panel for abuse if anyone want me to pour various...
