I repeat, please extoll the virtues of your chosen heroes in the correct place, this thread is in the general direction of 'used equipment' and then 'Miller dialarc'.
If your hero had not discovered whatever then someone else would have within a few years, so to say that we would have...
OK madeinchina,
I have just tried to get some information on your Mig welders, the small hobby machine. Your site does not give any technical specifications for the machine. What is the Amp range?, what is the duty cycle at 60% (A), what is the power supply requirement?, What is the...
You don't need to convert your mig to run Aly., just get the wire and the gas.
TIG will be the best bet but you will end up wanting one. This will also be expensive for one job.
You cannot weld Aly. with Oxy/Acyt., it oxidises far too quickly without a shielding gas.
I have just tried searching for another 20 mins. and still had no luck, it may be the same as the 130 but that has one extra control, so maybe it is older. I will put up a pic sometime, or just go and try it. Thanks.
Snap-on are badged up Ceboras (I think, certainley badged up something) and not what they used to be. That one is old so the bought as spares attitude should guide any purchase thoughts.
Fingers,
No, I can't find anything that helps. Weldequips advice was really accurate. Given that the search facility appears to be limited to 500 posts, and that Weldequipe has over 3,000 I can't find the original (it was in earlyish 2007, maybe Apr/May.)
My lad has been doing some good welding with this machine, I wish I was as good. He is annoying me with the constant bip, bip, bip, as he stitches with the trigger. When I first got it Weldequip (I think) explained to me the use of the top two control knobs, one of which was for auto stitching...
You could buy one of these for about £10, you get profiled wheels and using them is easy. You can even bend the pipe on the vehicle.

24 amps is a good low setting for car bodywork etc. I doubt if you will need to go above the capacity of that machine. Your father-in-law is one of the 'the more power the better' brigade, not always true.
So here it is.
