This. My niece bought a used VW from an independent dealer with 40K miles on the clock, came with a warranty. The Auto gearbox packed in two months later. Warranty claim was rejected by the warranty company as the failure was due to 'fair wear and tear'. My niece copped a £2k bill for the repair.
FTTC Fibre To The Cabinet. less copper in the 'local loop' should equal higher speed. FFTP Full Fibre To (the) Premises. So ordinary phones won't work without some jiggery pokery. I'm interested to hear people's ecperiences as we are all going to be lumbered upgraded at some point.
Or alternatively, as physics teachers were fond of saying 'what's a Watt -well it's one Joule per second' I got a better idea of power remembering that there are 746 Watts in a horsepower.
Yes, don't forget the Cubit and the Ell as measurements of length. And what's wrong with the Oxgang as a measurement of area
Actually, I'm from the changeover generation, and whatever 'O' level syllabus my school had for applied maths, physics, TD etc. used imperial units. Then I...
Interesting- Fitting a new seal to a CX 500 came to me as a job after the bike's owner had broken one of the the ceramic seals trying to press it in. A quick measure up of the hole and the new replacement seal for this particular motor told me it would never go in without failing. I put the...
A Triumph Quadrant and the BSA Fury/Triumph Bandit were on display at the National Motorcycle Museum some years ago in an exhibition with a load of other prototypes. I thought the Bandit was a bit ambitious with the (well known to be underinvested/ancient) manufacturing facilities they had then...
Yes, 'professional use only', not that I was questioned as to what my profession might be when I bought the product. I think the stated forced ventillation etc. requirements for the Starchem stuff are either an increased awareness of Health and Safety in today's world, or the producers hoping...
Yes, I read it the latest Caravan etc. magazine. I also had a look on Calor's (chaotic) website. Which shows the small Butane and propane cylinders.

Thought it would be worth reviving this thread as apparently Calor have changed their mind and are now not going to discontinue the small Butane and Propane cylinders.
They're certainly excellent value for money, But I found that a bit more rigidity was needed for thicker steel work. I also found that doing anything intricate really needed a 'handle turner' so that I could concentrate on steering the work. I wore out my welcome with Sue on that one, so adapted...
Looks like a 'Bendix' wheel cylinder. The 22.2 bore is 7/8" in old money. If you can't get a repair kit, this might do -albeit 3/4" bore. Fits 80s Hilux as well as loads of other stuff https://partshawk.com/dorman-products-w37634-drum-brake-wheel-cylinder-for-toyota-pickup.html
A mate has this kit in his shed. Has what is presumably the maker's name on it -J R Weaving
Some of the bits out of the box...
Any suggestions -even rude/amusing ones, welcome
Very old post. I rebuilt one of these several years ago. The motor in mine was fitted with standard shielded ball races on the motor shaft. ISTR that they were a metric size.
The trickiest bit was the coolant pump which is driven off the end of the motor shaft. Mine had a bronze spindle...
Ebay angle grinder, turned out to be Silverline brand, that well known purveyor of chrome plated chocolate tools. Sent the first one back as it arrived with the switch not working. Here's the replacement after 30 minutes of use...
Pure Chinesium right there.
