Worked it out and Ive had the SIP for around 14yrs and never let me down.
Lets just hope the R-Tech lives up to its grandfather.
and I cannot mod the R-tech as its got 3 years warranty and yes ill buy another 2 years on top as a safeguard, inverters are not cheap to repair.
We recently changed out the consumer unit with tails and one thing that was sorted apart from the kitchen on a radial circuit was a separate 32amp socket.
This is 1.2mm steel, 1960 VW Karmann Ghia
I'm putting 1.2mm zintec into it.
Itll be hooked up to a 32amp supply.
A whole load already has been done on the SIP and still a bit to do.
Guy's Ive taken the plunge and bought the R-Tech IMig 180 to replace the much modded SIP 150 DP.
There was nothing wrong with the sip, just always wondered if i could weld better with another machine.
Ive welded mainly car bodywork at 1.2mm and i curious.
This beat the oxford and parweld due to...
Its been two years and the mods are working a treat, nothing else was needed apart from decent wire and gas.
It really has transformed this little mig for me anyway.
The mod has proven to be reliable enough for me to fit and forget and keep plugging.
I've got a SIP 150 DP
Since doing the mods mentioned nove it has transformed the mig from poor to quite good.
Brace the wire rollers, do the laptop pus mod, replace the trimmer on the board and sort a New liner.
I use bags of silica gel and place them inside the mig helps I think.
Replace the...
As my sip, and the comment above, you need to speed up the wire feed.
Try on some scrap cleaned of course.
For plug welds I'm on low high and wire feed at 2oclock?.
For 1mm but welds low medium wire feed around 10 - 11 o'clock.
Half day today, not entirely happy with the above
So minus the drain hole
Front pregrinding and painting.
Just need to epoxy paint it inside, tack and seam the outer skin replacement, smooth.
Rhs
Why do the yanks do it, blobs of bondo and plate.
All...
It started not looking too bad, a bit of bubbling so strip paint and go from there.
Not looking to good at this point.
Not knowing whats going to happen, go forth and remove all that filler
Ummm
Ok start cutting out
The bad cut out, templates and now welding...
I've had my MM150DP turbo since new, I've gone the mods and I'm happy with it.
I'm aware it's not as good as say a Butters but its never let me down and was cheap.
I've learnt to work with what I have and adapt.
