Hi there
Do you guys recommend any movement on a tack weld or not?
I notice some have a quick circular motion etc.
Does this depend on type of join?
Any tips hugely appreciated
Thank you.
when welding on cars thin stuff, I just start on the new piece and drag into the old parts. I find it helps get heat into the fresh metal and I can reduce burning holes by reducing trigger time.
make sense lol
I think that makes sense yes. So a quick blast on new sheet then a quick drag on old?
Do you use same technique when stitching on cars? And do you start tacking ends then middle of ends then middle of those till eventually you join everything up ?
Thanks very much for the help!
Just completed some panel work on my van, I did ends then middles moving around each side of new panel in turn. It seemed to work well, left the job for a bit for everything to cool down and went back to complete the welds.
if i have a corner joint and one flat is flat and one goes down verticaly i just use gravity and aim downwards with my gun and kinda make it meld down to the bottom plate.
Thank you all for your comments.
So when it comes to the single tack weld do you blast it for a second or so without any movement on torch?
I've noticed some do a little circular motion.
Very interested in your thoughts.
Thanks again.
Also am I correct that for tacks it better to have a higher power setting and less time instead of less power and longer blast?
My application is more for thin sheet metal.
Thanks again.
