hello guys, in this thread I just wanted to repeat to new people in welding to buy good quality rods. I have bought these nice little rods 2.5mm murex, that by the way are made by ESAB, I paid 20£ for them including vat so not very expensive for 4.8kg of rods, and guess what happens? they weld like a charm.

I am all but a good welder, in fact this welding thing became like one of the best way to annoy me and make me angry, as in over a year of here and there welds, it became "my cross". Every time I started calm and easy and crap welds one after the other. then for some reason, ONE rod, welded perfectly, I always left angry and thinking I will never learn cus every time I have a good one, next time it'll be crap again. Today i tried these Murex one guess what? perfect welds, all the time. With the old one (cheap no name bought on eBay) as I am more accustomed doing zeroes / circle motions, I always got a slag inclusion in the centre, and that when it came almost OK. with this murex ones, not a chance. I've even practice a bit with doing back and forth motion and again another success.
And for some reason (not like I should enjoy welding gases or sparks) the fumes have a much "better" odour, and while the rod melts it makes nice little sparks that the other ones didn't.
Hope this post will help new people stil learning like me.
