So i'm completely new to TIG. Just ordered and R-Tech machine and looking for gas.
I will need to do Steel, Stainless and Alu.
Do i want Argon 4.6 or 4.8?
Also more confused as one local supplier quotes Argon/He for Alu use. Why?
4.6 is 99.996% pure Ar and 4.8 is 99.998%. For normal use 4.6 will be fine.
ArHe mixes produce more heat and penetrate more than pure Ar. On a DC only TIG that'll let you do Al work more easily. On an ACDC TIG you only need the Ar but added He will let you punch harder.
I think when you see the price of ArHe you'll end up with pure Ar
