I'm sure we have all seen the log and axe ....................
Well I love it and would like to make something similar, so I've been practising on a piece of 38mm OD pipe and so far this is all I can come up with (below) . I have been concentrating on trying to get some texture into the "bark" by using the little "e" technique (stack of dimes)and have also tried making little sideways "U" s. My biggest problem is consistency.
My questions are ........ did the maker of this, paint the welds and then wire brush the excess paint off ?
And also how do you make the little branch stubs ? Mine either end up hollow or (as shown on left hand side in pic) or they get so red hot they fall over.
