Try 60-80 Hz on the AC freq for stuff that thick flat runs DB. Good vid as always mate. This may help
If you have a cooler why not use a wp20 for everything. I agree a 17 is much nicer with the short cups but a 20 is perfect for all case scenarios with a 200 amp unit. Do you have the genuine lorch cooler on your 220. Nice units ain't they.A much cheaper option is a wp17 air cooled with the stubby gas lens kit.
Your dc only.
No water cooler noise. Only one hose to the torch.
Practicality the same size torch with the stubby kit.
It's fast becoming my go to torch for said reasons.
Don't forget the the cost if something goes pop. Be it the torch or the cooler.
I have a lorch t220 with cooler.
Most of my welds are stop start. For me it's a wp17 air cooled with a stubby gas kit
hi brad93WP20 is the type you want. Abicor Binzel, Parweld, CK, Weldcraft all good reliable torches. You will need to buy a water cooler, many brands available.
hi brad 93 i intend to build my own water cooler same as i did for my miller 375 amp 3ph just not sure whether i need to track the water pipe through the earth terminal on the welder or not if yes can i get an attachment to do so regards namerifWP20 is the type you want. No the water only travels through the torch lines.hi brad93

Yeah I see what you mean. Just seems odd to me. I'd just stick with the 20.I think yr missing my point.
I don't swap often.
I don't need to.
Most of my work. The air cooled handles very well.
On the rare occasions I need to swap.
I leave everything as is. Ie water cooler and pipes to the wp20.
I simply chance the binz conection and the gas connection.
I'll leave the water connection alone. Still attached to the wp20
thanks brad93 my miller water cooler is earthed via the welding set which was done by a sparky, over engineered i suppose but you know how it is been welding for over 35 years but still get niggling doubts probably because i'v had some pretty nasty jolts over the years thanks once againNo the water only travels through the torch lines.
Yeah traveling about makes more sense without the cooler. I used to use that little rehm when doing jobs out and about.I use the wp20 and cooler in the shop, when the machine goes out with me in the van I take a 26 euro style (standard r-tech) which seems to handle full power on AC okay.
