Old yes But that was in the 70s, when the aircraft were in need of some help. BTW, Biggles was WW11 and the Red Baron WW1. Can't be any left that saw him.I didn't realise you were that old-did you meet Biggles and see the Red Baron?
What kind of solder and flux would be used on a stainless tank,or on the Rolls material in the vid?
I am going to make a small 11 litre tank for a boat. I might tack it with tig and solder it? My Tig skill is as good as my knitting. If that don't work I will mig a mild steel one. Cylindrical tank, for cuteness. How would you tin the mild steel to eliminate painting? No sea water........fresh only.
Sorry just thought it may save someone's life it was a big bang. I was a fridge engineer we used to decant the R12 gas from big bottles to smaller ones to carry. one of the chaps over filled his in the summer of 1976 he was working on a farm the van was parked in the yard full sun and yes it blew up he had a morris marina van, It was as big as a sherpa after the bang, No one was hurt we did take the p!!!!s out of him for years after.
How times have changed if you discharge to atmosphere now and get caught it's £2000 fine at least.
There is a paint on solder in a paste with flux in when i go in the work shop i will take a pic of it for you.The steel must be supper clean before applying
I make lotus rads for a mate and i use it to tin the brass on the end caps.

Aside: Fuel prices are actually going down here. Unlike the UK, they do follow the price of crude. OK, not as fast, but at least enough to fool us they care.
They are coming down here, I saw 114.9p L today for petrol and 117.9p L for diesel today, down from a high of 144.9p L earlier in the year!
I did hear an economist on the radio who predicted sub £1 L prices in the new year.
Interesting stuff, Hotrodder.
We have had E10 here for a while and there is a website to find if your car is suitable. On it, they also say that it is unsuitable for boat engines or garden equipement. Both of which I use it for. One of the probs, is that many stations do not have 95 oct straight fuel, only the E1095.
Over in the states, they have had problems with polyester resins in GRP tanks, mostly in boats. The alcohol tends to break down the resin, causing blockages. Cure seems to be an époxy/glass lining to the tank.
