I've just started a Vehicle Restoration course at my local college, just 2 hours on a Monday night for 10 weeks. Already on week 2, and after a session of panel beating last week hit the welders last night and here's my first attempts:
Lots of room for improvement no doubt, but I've seen worse from people just starting off so was relatively happy.
I've got a 1986 Mk2 Golf, and 1993 BMW. So after shelling out over a grand last year for some sub-standard body repairs I thought £130 for a quick course was money well spent.
Also very keen to take on a classic Beetle next year, so no doubt lots of opportunities to practice then.
The course itself covers all aspects of body restoration so it's going to be a bit of a whirlwind tour but hopefully I get enough out of it to take away the basics and continue at my own speed. 3 more weeks on metal then move to paint and finishing.
