I'm practicing fillet and lap joints on offcuts. Once I get the amps right and the bead started it seems to go ok, but I always seem to have a slag inclusion at the start of the first bead, right down at the junction of the two pieces of metal.
The photo attached shows 4 beads(practiced restarting a couple of times.) The cr*p one was at a lower amperage. Once tweaked the rest of the weld went ok.
How to I avoid slag inclusions at the start? It happens even at a setting that produced an ok looking bead.
