Hello All.
Well first off I'm completely new to this forum and indeed to Arc Welding too!
I bought a Powercraft 160A Arc Alder in Aldi some time back and am using it to make some sculpture.
So I'm sticking bits of rusted metal together. So after a few tips on youtube off I went at it.
I could not get a spark going for it to melt the rods to start with and eventually I got it to work with my setting at 115(top) 3.2(bottom) Basically I know that its fairly high up and this appears to be the only way to get a spark.I have managed to find a fairly decent bit of metal to clamp the vise onto to conduct it..Problem being, is that I seem to be able to get it to go each time I put on a new rod, lasts for just that first attempt and thats it,tip of the rod and then nothing..Wont spark and so I keep having to change the rod and have all these rods with just the tip of them used..So no idea why I cant keep that spark going when I hit it again?
Anybody able to help? really frustrating..Was very exciting when started to work earlier for me, just cant seem to continue the process..Any help much appreciated!
Thanks
