Just wondering if I can use the mild steel wire I've got with my old oxy-acet kit for TIG welding mild steel or if I need 'MS TIG rods'??
I don't really use my gas kit anymore but still have a bunch of wire and hoped I could use it instead of having to buy other stuff.
They are 'normal' mild steel wires, about a meter long, and have some sort of coating on em - looks like a copper colour but I dunno if it's actually copper as I've had that rig about 30 years and the coating is still shiny and not like an old two pence piece dull dark brown. Might be some kinda flux?
Anyway - can I use oxy-acetylene welding wire for TIG?
Cheers!
