Just wondered if anyone had come across a decent chemical method of removing old chrome plate? I've got a few nuts etc. here which have some patchy chrome plate I want to get shut of. Tried bleach, which seems to be a common suggestion, and that just ended up causing the nuts to start rusting at a rate of knots, so that one's out, and citric acid only seems to work appreciably on the stuff which is already flaky or loosely bound, so after some other suggections as to what might be a good chemical to try which won't adversely affect the underlying metal. Not got any blasting kit, so that's not an option.
Cheers.
