See quite often on here that a lot of people tend to use 7018 as a go to low hydro rod.
Have many people given 7016s a go, ie Filarc 56's, ESAB OK 53.16, Elga P47s???
Just a curiosity really. Personally think they are a fair bit easier to run out of position, can hold a real tight arc, restart seems a little easier to (maybe due to thinner coating), and dont seem to drip quite as much slag down your neck.
Also a benefit is they can be run on AC too to sort out arc blow if you encounter it
