What did it go for?? What was the ebay item number so we can have a gander.Sorry. Put it on ebay tonight and it sold before I even managed to put an ad up on here! Assuming the courier turns up in any case!
Thats worth a lot more than its up at now. I would be surprised to see it go for below 1500.Theres a smaller Smart and Brown on the bay a moment, Rolls Royce of lathes.
Good used condition with chucks, steadies and some tooling is worth £500+; a dealer would be asking double that. What did it go for?? What was the ebay item number so we can have a gander.
I have a raglan 5inch I will be selling shortly so I am checking out what the midsized to smaller lathes are going for. Mine has the essential extra tooling which is always a good selling point.
How long is a piece of string? Depending on the quality and condition of the chucks and the presence/absence of an inverter drive I'd be going to look at it with £400-700 in mind, but that's a very rough guide.
It needs gears to get the full range of thread pitches/feed rates, as a gearbox to provide all of them would be very large and expensive; a metric lathe will also need a metric/imperial changewheel to cut true imperial threads and vice versa for an imperial lathe. The BUD gets all of its thread pitch/feedrate adjustment via the change wheelsThanks for all the replies guys.
I've been looking at Boxford AUD lathes as they do what I want and also aren't too big. I'm just waiting for a good one to come up.
With regards to the change gears, why does the AUD need change gears if it has a gearbox?
Also if I was to go for a BUD, what change gears should I ensure come with the lathe?
Cheers
they were factory shimmed to the cabinets and its a integral part of their rigidity.
