This is becoming a reasonably common conversion, surely there must be a standard way people are doing it?
I've got a friend who bought a 150hp 6bt and then found 200hp 6bt that was really rusty as it had come from a gritter but was very low mileage. They've swapped the internals and the pump from the low mileage motor into the other motor and order a piece from the USA that allows the motor to rev higher. I have a chat and find out what they are doing as it's going into a 110.
I think an actual 12v starter is rare and from a bus iirc, there are several bodges including spacers to use other starters so is suppose if you had the skills and equipment you could make a nice non bodgy spacer?
