Here are some pics of the compressor I pulled out of a skip.
The motor is a 1/2 hp repulsion induction motor, and weighs a ton! The pump says Westinghouse Brake Co. on it. I suspect it may have come from a locomotive or tram. It is pressure lubricated, the pump is on the end nearest the camera, the knob on the top conceals a dipstick. A friend of mine has a similar one with vertical cylinders.
The fan and serpentine copper pipe is to cool the air, there is a non-return valve behind the pump, out of sight.
The 2nd picture compares the original 1/4 hp motor with the new 2 hp motor!
