hi everyone.
I am after a welder, after thinking hard about it, i reckon a MIG is the way forward.
A couple of years ago, i was on a alumimum welding course mainly using MIG, but done some Tig and arc (with steel 5mm plate).
Now i am after a welder to do stuff around the house/garden and later on the in-laws farm.
Now, i was going for a ARC welder (more power), but will want to weld thin plate (car etc..)i need to fix my wheel barrow which looks to be 1mm thick, so MIg is the only option here.
Now my problem is i have had the redundancy warning from work (not sure if i am one of the ones leaving, but i do want to get a cheapish welder soon), if i do go, the welder will keep me busy and i can practise.
Anyway, it needs to be a cheap welder.
I want to weld 1mm stuff, and could go as far as 5/6mm tubing (old scaffold tubes) (but will grind joints down for fillets to use a lower amp welder).
I also need to make myself a gate at some point too :-)
I have seen on ebay (i know, but cost is important) a MIG yellow thing, title starts "MIG WELDER 195 AMP".
It only goes down to 60amp though, will i get away with welding 1mm steel with this or is that too much?
Sorry for the long pst, wanted to get as much info on here so you know where i am coming from.
I appreiate any feedback over this festive period (but please i do know about ebay, cheap chinese etc... but again, COST hahah).
Have a good xmas/new year.
Stuart
