I'm always amazed how things fail in totally unexpected ways...think I'll be giving "steer by wire" a wide berth".
Ay, and gave the Rover 75 the weakened version of their Diesel engine -M45 was it?
What actually is IPA? If I can work out how to get it out of the car I can probably dry it out, but it's on some sort of hinge, buried under the glove box.Recalls are safety related, so this wouldn't qualify. You don't need to replace the entire harness, just run a new pair of wires to the screenwash pump (which is what the overlay harness did) with a new connector & contacts at the pump end and new contacts at the BCM end. Be careful with a hair dryer, you could overheat components or even melt solder on some of the surface mount components. Open it up, give it a good, gentle clean with IPA and a toothbrush then put it near a radiator for a day or so - or if your oven goes low enough, 50deg. C. for 20 mins or so, then give it a second clean with IPA to remove any residue forced out by the heat and dry again.
Considering the speedo on the Maestro Van only went up to 110mph ...Also the Maestro van, which is allegedly capable of doing an indicated 120mph down the Shap section of the M6 at 2am.
Isopropyl alcohol linkyWhat actually is IPA?
Indian Pale Ale.What actually is IPA?
If ever it stops raining I shall have a go at getting it out and drying it off, but it's been pouring down here since late last night.Indian Pale Ale.
Actually : Isopropanol, which is also known as isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and propan-2-ol, has a range of applications across many industries.
Fingers crossed you caught it in time.Rain stopped, I dove under the dash, got the board outscarilysurprisingly easily. No damage that I can see, no green, no rust, very little wetness other than in the one socket the washer wires connect too.
I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to disconnect the battery when I plug it all back in? Just in case....
It never occurred to me taking it apart, but putting it back in I unhooked the power. Oddly enough my radio is still working, as it needed recoding when I changed battery a few years ago.Well you wouldn't want to be unplugging or plugging in ECU modules with the battery connected anyway....
Why not? Other than restraints control modules, there's no reason to disconnect the battery every time you open or close a connection, after all, disconnecting the battery is just the same as pulling a plug or fuse ...Well you wouldn't want to be unplugging or plugging in ECU modules with the battery connected anyway....
For two-pin connectors, or for connections to stuff like lights/motors/switches with no active electronics, yes. For electronic modules with dozens of pins, they will make contact in random order. Then you can get components being powered through their signal pins and currents taking all sorts of paths the designer never considered, I've seen plenty of boards fried that way over the years. Why not? "Allegedly" and "indicated".Considering the speedo on the Maestro Van only went up to 110mph ...
