I suspect some hotmail users have found it easier to add the forum to their spam filter rather than turn off notifications via the forum. As a result the server is now viewed as a spam server.

If anyone doesn't like notifications go to http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/p...do=editoptions and scroll down to Default Thread Subscription Mode and select either Do Not Subscribe or No Email Notification.

What should the default be? We've had both options in the past - when we don't send emails to new members we don't get them back if their post isn't answered within a few hours. When we do enable it we have this spam filer problem.

I'm tempted to enable it for the first 5 posts and then turn it off until the member turns it on again. That will create a confusion problem but so long as you all know we can take it in turns to answer the 'why don't I get emails any more' threads.
